Happy Mother’s Day!

Posted by

Did you know that Mother’s Day in the U.S. was officially recognized in 1914, thanks to the efforts of Anna Jarvis?

The first celebration took place on May 10, 1908, at St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia.

Anna Jarvis sought to commemorate her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, whose dedication to improving public health, and supporting mothers during the Civil War left a lasting impact, along with her mother efforts to establish a day for mothers, included a Mother’s Friendship Day in 1868, aimed to reunite families that had been divided by the war.

In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation, officially designating the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day, establishing it as a national holiday.

Over the years this celebration has evolved, transforming it into a cherished tradition and a widely recognized occasion, to express gratitude to our mothers through gifts, heartfelt messages, and family gatherings.

Today, we celebrate the strength, love, and dedication of mothers everywhere.

Thank you for all you do—your kindness and care make the world a better place!
